AKC Reunite Donates $150,000 to Police Departments Across US

AKC Reunite, one of the American Kennel Club‘s many branches, and specializing in finding and microchipping lost pets, recently donated around $150,000 for Giving Tuesday to police departments around the US to help them get K9 units (or police dogs in everyday terms).

Technically, $157,500 was raised in matching funds through the Adopt-A-K9-Cop program, with additional fundraising help from AKC member clubs, AKC affiliated programs, and members of the general public.

“The more than $150,000 from the AKC Reunite Adopt-A-K9-Cop matching grant program will help these departments acquire new police dogs, contributing in increased safety in their communities,” Tom Sharp, AKC Reunite CEO, said in a press release.

Twenty police departments and other law enforcement agencies in Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Texas will receive these funds.
