Note from dog
Normally, I hand NOTE FROM DOG over to a pup who has earned a starring role in a current story, but this time around, I asked them if I might have their permission to write this NOTE because a lot has happened since we sent our last one at the end of November.

There’s no simple answer to how often you should wash your dog. Generally speaking, once a month is a good schedule to follow. But there are many factors to take into consideration. The length and texture of the coat, the activities of the dog, and the breed are all things to consider when preparing for bathtime.

If your dog likes a good mudbath during their walk, once a month probably won’t cut it. Some dog breeds have specific coats that may require more frequent baths. With dogs that have medium to long hair, it’s recommended you wash them anywhere from once a week to once every six weeks.

Although you may be tempted to wash your dog on a short schedule, it’s important not to overwash their coats. Dogs have oils that they need for their skin and hair just like we humans do, and washing them too frequently could lead to irritation.

When you are shampooing your dog, experts say the most important thing is to rinse the product completely out of the dog’s coat. Think you got all the product out? Rinse it again just to be safe. It could cause damage to their skin.
