Note from dog
Normally, I hand NOTE FROM DOG over to a pup who has earned a starring role in a current story, but this time around, I asked them if I might have their permission to write this NOTE because a lot has happened since we sent our last one at the end of November.

Lou the Coonhound breaks Guinness Record

Guinness World Records

Each ear measures 13.38 inches (34 cm)

During lockdown, Paige Olsen says she decided to measure her dog, Lou the Coonhound’s “extravagantly long ears.”. Each ear is a little more than 13 inches long, which makes her dog a Guinness World Record holder for the longest ears on any living dog.

The breed standard for Coonhounds is for their ears to extend at least to the tip of their nose. Olsen, a veterinary technician, explains that “Their long ears drag on the ground and stir up scents when they are tracking out in the field. It makes them great at following long, very old or ‘cold’ tracks that other breeds of dog may not pick up on.”

When she’s not winning the world over with her fantastic ears, three year-old Lou is a competitor and has received titles from the American Kennel Club and Rally Obedience.
