Note from dog
Normally, I hand NOTE FROM DOG over to a pup who has earned a starring role in a current story, but this time around, I asked them if I might have their permission to write this NOTE because a lot has happened since we sent our last one at the end of November.

Flightless pigeon nurtures tiny puppies

Pigeon goes to the dogs

The bonds animals form seem to know no limits. This is the story of a flightless pigeon and the tiny, abandoned newborn puppies he nurtures at The Mia Foundation, a nonprofit shelter for special needs animals in Rochester, New York,

Sue Rogers, founder of the rescue, found Herman in a parking lot, unable to fly. She and her husband took him in and tube fed him until he recovered and then decided to give him a permanent home. She soon found him cuddling with tiny newborn puppies, including a chihuahua who can’t walk.

As the puppies grow and are adopted, new puppies always arrive and Herman is there to welcome them, preen them and snuggle with them.

Lundy the chihuahua in the photo, now has a little wheelchair that he gets around with. It was donated by Walkin’ Wheels.

There’s even a book called Lundy and Herman that tells their story. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Mia Foundation

Pigeon loses ability to fly. He adapts by becoming one of the dogs. This video has been viewed more than 3.3 million times.
